How to Rent a Dumpster for Renovations, Home Improvement Projects, and Demolitions

Renting a dumpster doesn’t have to be difficult. Calling a local dumpster rental company like Core Mini Bins, it can be as easy as speaking with a representative, answering a few questions, and then, having what you need dropped off on the same day.

For home improvement projects, demolitions, and renovations, obviously the requirements of a dumpster can vary in size, weight, etc. To maximize your dollar and ensure you are renting the correct dumpster for your needs, it’s important to keep in mind a few things.

There’s bound to be some diversity to the type of waste being produced on your project. Generally, a range of debris is to be expected. Leaving this debris in your yard or on your property is oftentimes unsanitary and sometimes, dangerous. Therefore, something like a mini bin, dumpster, or waste container is perfect to safely and legally contain your renovation waste. By employing a dumpster, the waste you make can simply be tossed in and it won’t be such an eyesore to neighbours.

For an affordable price, homeowners can receive their own dumpster rental just like any commercial construction company uses. Choose from a range of sizes and customize it according to your needs. Containers come in standard sizes that should be easy to choose from, when discussing the unique needs of your project with a representative. Be sure to share what kinds of materials will be going into the dumpster. Cross-contamination and other concerns regarding hazardous materials can mean additional fees. To avoid that conundrum, be open about the waste you need to off-load. If there are any concerns, a representative would be more than happy to hear them and provide some solutions.

A primary advantage to hiring a dumpster for renovations, home improvement, and demolitions is that you can rest easy knowing your waste will be handled in a safe and legal way. By hiring a local dumpster rental company, they should be well aware of rules and regulations regarding waste management, and it’s their responsibility to follow those.

The last thing that goes into renting a dumpster is to prepare your property for drop-off and pick-up. If the dumpster is sizeable, you may want to alert neighbours just to let them know what’s going on. Also, ensuring the dumpster is placed in a safe place on your property is key. Where you place it is an important decision. If you want the container to be positioned a certain way, be sure to clear out the space to do so. If there are concerns about the weight of it damaging your property, you may also wish to lay something down to protect your lawn or driveway.

The great thing about hiring a dumpster rental company like Core Mini Bins is that we offer same day service. All you need to do is give us a call and we can take care of the details from there. Don’t waste any time. We try to keep fees as low as we can for our customers so be sure to let us in on the details of your renovation, home improvement project, or demolition. With that information, we should be able to recommend the appropriate sized container for use. When the dumpster is filled, request a pick-up and we will have someone on their way as soon as it can be managed. Like we said, it doesn’t need to be difficult to rent a dumpster. With Core Mini Bins, it’s so much easier.

5 Creative Ways Toronto wants to Reduce Waste and Increase Recycling

The City of Toronto has launched five programs targeting waste reduction in the GTA. These creative new initiatives seek to help grow the city’s existing eco-friendly community partnerships. Among them are initiatives to repair and repurpose abandoned bicycles, a program to repair ripped clothing, and a program that allows one to share the extra food they grow in their garden.

5 Creative Ways Toronto wants to Reduce Waste and Increase Recycling - http://www.garbagebinrentals.ca/services/disposal-services.html

These five initiatives fall under Toronto’s Community Reduce and Reuse program which oversees a number of priority neighborhoods in Toronto. Several bicycle repair hubs are being established across nearly a dozen Toronto neighborhoods, hoping to provide citizens from all over the city something within walking distance. Toronto already collects thousands of bicycles every year, seeing these abandoned on the streets and thereby creating unnecessary waste. By refurbishing them, a bicycle can be given back to the community without creating any additional waste.

Though the bicycle reuse initiative is one of the more exciting, there’s also composting, clothing repair, and others. This all falls under the Long Term Waste Management Strategy and Tower Renewal Program. As a city, building sustainable communities is a huge concern going forward. As we continue to expand, develop, and re-develop, Toronto’s lack of sustainability is creating waste that doesn’t need to be created. Provincial landfills are filling up and efforts being made from the City are no doubt going to make a difference while educating newcomers on reuse.

The community composing program is going to be a strong one moving forward. This has some real potential to limit food waste and cross-contamination in recycling. The composting initiative hopes to develop a skills training program for designated communities across Toronto. These hubs will also be places where one can come to repair clothing, can and preserve produce, and more. These initiatives have the potential to transform the way we do recycling and reuse here in the City. The months to come will hopefully show some evidence as to their merit. The City of Toronto site has further details about these programs and where a resident can find a hub local to them.

Waste management and recycling are both passionate subjects to us. Toronto has so many opportunities to integrate environmentally friendly programs across its many neighborhoods. As we move forward, we hope to see more community initiatives like these to assist neighborhoods in reducing their waste. As we continue to work with hundreds of Torontonians in reducing their waste – providing junk removal services, dumpster rentals, and more – we hope to continue to play a role in redesigning how we all think about, process, and ultimately manage waste.

Every year, the City of Toronto on its own manages approximately 900,000 tonnes of waste. This takes money away from the City budget that could be used elsewhere, uses up energy that may not have to be used up, and uses resources that may not necessarily need to be expended. Every year we do not produce significant change in our waste management, we only serve to contribute all this to our landfills. It’s integral that we get creative in solving Toronto’s waste problem.

For more information on the waste management and recycling opportunities that may be out there, contact Core Mini Bins to speak with a representative. We would be happy to recommend ways to minimize waste, manage removal and disposal, and more.

Why more Canadians are Searching for Junk Removal Services when they move

At different points in our lives, each one of us inevitably comes to the moment where we’ve had to move. In our experience as one of Toronto’s top junk removal companies, we see more Canadians today choosing to hire junk removal services when they move.

Why more Canadians are Searching for Junk Removal Services when they move - http://www.garbagebinrentals.ca/services/mini-bins-rental.html
From homeowner to homeowner, hiring a junk removal company makes it easy to get rid of some of the older stuff we don’t want to take with us to our new place. If you don’t have the time to coordinate the drop-off of older furniture, appliances, and junk, this is a great way to get it off your hands fast. All you will need is a phone number and then, the company will be there in your front driveway to collect anything that’s just collecting dust.

Many Canadians will wait to call a junk removal company like us, instead choosing to list their items on a Craigslist or a Kijiji type website. Admittedly, this is a great idea. You might be able to get some instant cash for the things you don’t want. That said, in many cases, the items may not sell, you may not be able to coordinate pick-up, or you may not have enough time to find a proper buyer. For situations like these, a junk removal company is best.

No one wants to be moving into a new property only to have to throw all their useless items into a spare room or the garage where they’re just bound to sit indefinitely. There’s no reason to do that. As a junk removal company, we can assist in the pick-up, recycling, and/or waste management of items you don’t want to take with you when you move. If there’s any way to recycle the materials we pick up, we will do our best to do so. If there’s not, we will take care of anything that needs to be sent to the landfill.

While we know having to decide on whether to keep or get rid of a piece of furniture, equipment, or general item is not always easy, you’ll feel infinitely better once the decision is made. Where junk removal services are most appropriate are for those who don’t have the labor, time, money, or logistics support to get their stuff out and to the dump. We have the people, the vehicles, the time, and the means to get junk to where it needs to go.

For Canadian businesses that are moving, we are an equally attractive bargain. If you’re upgrading your office furniture or need to toss out a ton of old office equipment, junk removal has got you covered. As much effort as it can take to coordinate this kind of thing on your own, by simply making a call to a company like Core Mini Bins, we can instantly enact a place to get everything tossed out and gone. Don’t make things exponentially more complicated than they need to be.

Every year, we help hundreds of Canadians seeking to move into new residential or commercial spaces. Buying new furniture and/or removing old junk is simple, easy, and inexpensive when you’re working with an experienced Toronto junk removal services company. Contact Core Mini Bins today for more information on how junk removal services may be able to help you.

Reducing Waste and Diverting Waste on Construction Sites in Toronto

Home renovations, building a new home, or working on an addition to an existing home are environments where significant waste is created. In years’ past, cabinetry, plumbing, hardware, and all sorts would be casually tossed into a dumpster and taken to the nearest dump without a second thought. Today, as new recycling opportunities have presented themselves, materials from construction sites in Toronto can now be diverted, instead of being fed to a landfill.
reducing-waste-and-diverting-waste-on-construction-sites-in-toronto
Reducing Waste and Diverting Waste on Construction Sites in Toronto
For construction sites in Toronto, diverting waste is always going to begin by renting a dumpster, bin, or waste container. By installing a large bin on the construction site, it provides the chance to gather non-hazardous building materials in a safe place. This might include lumber, scrap metal, drywall, concrete, asphalt, and/or glass. When the bin is full, just give your local waste management company a call to get it hauled off and sorted as requested.

There’s seemingly an endless list of recyclable materials that can be processed from construction sites in Toronto. Clean woods are oftentimes grounded into landscape mulches or similar products, while mixed woods are ground up for use as biofuel in the agriculture industry. Concrete and asphalt are processed into aggregate products for use in local construction. Cardboard and metals are sent to more specialized recycling processing plants to be re-made into finished product. Then, there’s glass which is broken down to become an aggregate material and component for road building. Lastly, there’s drywall which is processed into various products for the agricultural industry as well.

These are just a few of the different ways construction site materials can be recycled. Just as important as it is the materials coming out of the construction site, it’s equally important what materials are being put in. For example, LED lighting products last up to fifty times longer than older, incandescent bulbs. Then, there’s metal roofing which has a significantly longer lifespan than traditional asphalt shingles do. There’s also opportunities for environmentally-friendly reclaimed wood, quartz and granite application, recycled materials manufactured into floor coverings, and foundation concrete to be made from up to twenty-five percent recycled content sourced from within our beautiful province.

By working to maximize the recycling opportunities of what we are pulling out of construction sites and ensuring the materials we are putting in will hold up for the future, we can minimize waste creation. No matter how small or big a construction project is, waste diversion is something we must all be aware of as the effect this can have on our environment is tremendously positive.

At a time when Toronto, the GTA, and the province of Ontario are searching for ways to limit and reduce landfill materials, taking a look at how we work our construction sites may provide some strong insight. Residential and commercial construction is always going to create waste. What we do with it is up to the contractors who oversee these sites, the homeowners and property management companies, and the waste management companies.

Core Mini Bins looks forward to seeing more opportunity, more efficient waste management techniques, and more waste reduction within Toronto’s biggest construction companies. Sustainable waste management and recycling are what we do best, assisting at all stages of construction. For more information on what you can do to limit or divert waste from landfills, please feel encouraged to contact a representative at Core Mini Bins.

4 Questions to Ask before renting a Dumpster, Mini Bin, or Waste Container

There are a number of questions we field from new customers seeking to rent a dumpster, mini bin, or waste container. Though there are some basic questions we find, there are some equally important questions that can sometimes go unanswered. To ensure that you have all the information you need to feel comfortable renting a dumpster, don’t hesitate to ask anything you’re curious about.
4-Questions-to-Ask-before-renting-a-Dumpster-Mini-Bin-or-Waste-Container

What are my dumpster storage options

It is up to the customer to decide where they wish to store their dumpsters. If you do not know where you intend to put it, you may have a problem on your hands. A representative might be able to assist in providing some ideas on a safe, convenient place to put it. If you don’t have space on your property, you may be able to keep it on the street. That said, you will likely need permission from the city and, in most urban environments, might be near impossible to clear.

Could the dumpster damage my yard or driveway

The size and weight of a dumpster is something many persons might be concerned about. If there’s a large amount of waste to be handled, know that your container could potentially affect your driveway or lawn. Depending on the size, you may wish to speak with a representative who can recommend an alternative. We always handle our dumpsters very carefully, minimizing the risk of damage to your lawn, driveway, or yard. In some cases, customers may add plywood or cushioning to protect their property.

What is the time frame associated with a dumpster rental

There are many options for time frames regarding waste container rentals. Quotes may be provided with this in mind. If it’s a quick clean-up requiring only a couple days, you can save on a daily dumpster rental. If it’s a waste container that’s going to need to be there for a few weeks or a month, there may be a more permanent solution we recommend. Ask about time frame with our representative to ensure you receive the best possible deal on your dumpster rental.

Is your waste going to be legally disposed of

An immensely important aspect of renting a dumpster that many customers overlook is ensuring their waste will be disposed of ethically and in accordance with local regulations. Be it storage, costs, damage, or disposal, it’s important to know you’re not infringing on any ways. Depending on whether the waste is perishables, wood, hazardous materials, or recyclables, ensuring they’re being handled in a safe, legal way is key. As one of Toronto’s top waste management and dumpster rental companies, we always ensure to dispose of waste in the most ethical way possible.

Core Mini Bins is Toronto’s premiere Dumpster Rental Company!

These are some of the most important questions that don’t always get asked in our initial consultation. If there are additional concerns regarding what materials are permitted to be included in a dumpster rental, how to protect your property from damage, storage of the bin itself while in possession, and any laws or regulations to be aware of, don’t hesitate to contact us.

By partnering with a company like Core Mini Bins, you’ll get the best deal in Toronto on your dumpster rental and you can rest assured knowing that all regulations will be followed in the storage, collection, and disposal of waste. Contact Core Mini Bins today for more information!

Did you Know your Municipal Government has no say on Where your Waste ends up

Industrial, commercial, and institutional waste in Ontario, contrary to perception, is not something controlled by the province nor by any municipal government.
Did-you-Know-your-Municipal-Government-has-no-say-on-Where-your-Waste-ends-up
Instead, the private businesses creating this industrial or commercial waste are the only ones overseeing where their garbage is shipped. As long as it’s an approved location, private businesses can largely move their waste to wherever they so choose. With virtually no say over where waste ends up in Ontario, this has created at least a half-dozen problematic scenarios in regions across the province.

As waste accumulates, what once were picturesque small town communities may begin to see their appeal run out. According to a statement from the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, Ontario requires an additional sixteen landfills within the next three decades if it’s going to keep on track with managing its waste. Where those Ontario landfills will go and/or whether there will be expansions on existing sites is unknown.

There exists small towns in the greater vicinity of hubs such as Toronto that are being pegged for new landfill sites. Should these sites be approved, that could mean literally dumping hundreds of thousands of tonnes of trash into otherwise beautiful regions of Ontario, completing destroying the natural ecosystem there.

This highlights one of the major problems with waste management in Ontario. It’s something that, as a Toronto waste management company, we face almost every day. The province has strict rules on residential recycling and residential garbage being driven out to landfills. The province and the cities therein have few regulations guiding waste coming from industrial, commercial, or institutional producers, which is where the vast majority of waste in Ontario is produced. As industrial, commercial, and institutional waste producers continue with few regulations guiding them, this comes at the sacrifice of smaller communities who don’t necessarily have the power to fight against the creation of landfills in their locality.

Though it can be argued no one wants a landfill immediately next to their property or even nearby, if Ontario does not do something to better regulate waste production in the aforementioned sector, there won’t be a choice. As a province, 7 million tonnes of business and industrial waste is generated every year. Though some members of government are beginning to put forth arguments in favor of further waste regulation on commercial, industrial, and institutional producers, nothing has been set in stone yet.

Last year, the provincial government passed the Waste Free Ontario Act, which committed to imposing new regulations that would prevent private businesses from shipping their waste to landfills. The Ontario government has yet to move forward with the creation of these rules or regulations, and with a new government in town, it’s unclear what the reality will be.

The incoming provincial Conservative government has “promised municipalities more control over potential landfill locations”. Though this is a positive, there’s also no ongoing plan to reduce waste in the province as a whole nor to reduce the commercial, industrial, or institutional waste being carted off to landfills across Ontario.

Estimates suggest that as much as 75 percent of the waste generated by corporations, small businesses, and institutions across the province end up in our landfills. Needless to say, there’s a lot to be done in waste management, recycling, and improving our provincial numbers. As we look ahead to a new era in provincial politics with a new government, we hope there is more leadership on this point.

Canadians are Creating more Waste and We Don’t Know What to Do about It

According to a recent report shared by the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) organization, Canadians’ waste output is increasing with no reduction in sight. In addition to criticizing the Canadian government for their lack of input, it’s also been widely publicized the lack of infrastructure in place to help households handle their organic garbage. Lastly, it does not appear the Canadian markets for recycled waste are as developed as they could be in, according to this ground-breaking report.
Canadians are Creating more Waste and We Don’t Know What to Do about It.png
Wate Management Toronto http://www.garbagebinrentals.ca/services/disposal-services.html
Though municipalities across Canada are making some amazing strides in waste management, organic waste handling, landfill diversion, and recycling, as a country, we’re falling behind. It’s no secret that, much like our neighbours in the United States, we love consumption. Just as an example, residential food, yard, and paper waste increased from 230 kilograms per person in 2002 to almost 300 kilograms per person according to 2012’s numbers. That’s a big jump! Arguably, what’s even worse is less than a third of this waste is being diverted from landfills and into recycling processes.

As one of the top Toronto waste management and recycling companies in the GTA, we want to see Canada make the most of its waste. We believe shipping off waste to landfills that could otherwise be recycled is near a crime. There’s so much we can make and do with the valuable materials being casually thrown away. For example, new recycling processes are creating new markets for waste in a way that we wouldn’t have thought possible even a decade ago. Canada’s composting units are also at roughly 62 percent capacity and are able to handle another 1.6 million tonnes of waste annually. These are resources that we and others need to tap into.

Across Canada, there’s a lot of positive movement being made to increase recycling numbers and limit what goes into our landfills. Despite what the NAFTA report says, there are provinces such as Nova Scotia which recently implemented a requirement for waste disposal in clear bags. Clear bags allows a recycler to see more easily what’s in the bag, and has increased organics and recycling diversion in the province by approximately 40 percent. In the province and even in the GTA, our governments are working on numerous initiatives to improve recycling numbers. That said, we believe there’s more we all could be doing to create better waste management.

When we receive a call, as a waste management and recycling company, we do everything we can to make the most from the materials we receive. Anything that can be recycled is recycled and anything that can’t be reused in some way is sent to the appropriate sites.

As we move forward into the next few years of a Conservative provincial government in Ontario, we hope more will be done to continue pushing us ahead as a province. The more opportunities there are to recycle, the more jobs we can provide our people, the less waste is sent to landfills, and the less greenhouse gas emissions we send into the atmosphere. The NAFTA report mentioned shows us that, yes, Canadians are producing more waste than they were a few decades ago. Even so, we believe the opportunity to improve our waste and recycling numbers has never been greater.

We, along with so many other companies across the GTA and the province, want to be a part of changing the way we think of waste management. For all of your waste management needs in Toronto and the GTA, please visit Core Mini Bins today.
